It Started with a Farmhouse Table.
Around 2018, Jacksonville local John Lemis was looking for something to focus on — something that was entirely his own. He’d always wanted to build things, but hadn’t done much with wood beyond putting up a shelf. Then he decided to try something different.
His first real piece of furniture was a farmhouse table — built for his wife. He sketched it up, made it by hand, and it came out right. They still have it. That’s the moment John knew this was more than a hobby. “This is really fun,” he thought. “I think I can make a business out of this.”
One project turned into another. Friends and neighbors started noticing the work coming out of the garage. Pretty soon, people were asking him to build things for them. WCMT Studios was born.
Woodworking isn’t one of them.
I call it sawdust therapy.
